A Holiday Walk of Peace & Intention
Terra Nova Center • The Brigade of Light
This season, the Board of Directors of The Brigade of Light offers a gift to the wider community: the Labyrinth of Light, a 100-foot diameter, seven-circuit labyrinth made entirely of light, crafted from over 4,000 feet of Christmas lights.
Created as a temporary seasonal installation, the Labyrinth of Light is designed to illuminate the darker months of winter and offer a sacred space for prayer, reflection, release, and quiet inner listening.
Terra Nova Center is a spiritual retreat center, church, and conservation property managed by The Brigade of Light. We are a sacred space for people of all paths. If being in nature helps you feel closer to God, Source, Spirit, or the Light within, Terra Nova welcomes you with care and intention.

Seasonal Availability
The Labyrinth of Light will be lit on many evenings throughout the winter season, beginning at Winter Solstice. From Solstice through New Year’s Day, guests who are familiar with Terra Nova Center are welcome to park and engage the labyrinth independently during evening hours, without calling ahead. After New Year’s Day, in an effort to remain mindful of energy use, the labyrinth will be lit on select evenings each week (check our Calendar HERE) rather than nightly. Guests wishing to visit during this time are asked to phone ahead at 828-862-5909 to confirm availability.
The Labyrinth of Light will remain in place throughout the winter season. At the Spring Equinox, the central tree and all offerings tied to it will be burned in ceremony, symbolically releasing everything that has been prayed, written, or entrusted during the season. Terra Nova Center remains open to day and season pass holders during daytime hours unless otherwise noted. As the Labyrinth of Light is an evening offering and parking is limited, guests are asked to follow all parking and arrival guidelines outlined below.
Self-Guided & Sacred Space Guidelines
The Labyrinth of Light is a completely self-guided experience. While staff may be present on-site, there is no formal facilitation. Guests are asked to hold reverence for others who may be engaging the labyrinth in prayer, meditation, or quiet reflection. Please move slowly, speak softly, and allow space for silence.
Terra Nova Center is a pack-in, pack-out, leave-no-trace facility. Please take all personal items and trash with you when you leave. We ask all guests to honor the land, the labyrinth, and one another with care. Because Terra Nova is an active church, retreat center, and conservation property, guests are asked to limit their visit to the parking area and the labyrinth only during evening visits. Please do not explore other areas of the grounds, trails, or facilities, as retreats and other guests may be in residence.
Parking & Arrival Information
Guests are asked to park exclusively at the Lighthouse Chapel, located at 22 Terra Nova Lane, Cedar Mountain, NC 28718
Parking is limited, and we ask all guests to be mindful of others.
No parking on gravel roads
No parking on sidewalks
No parking in grass or unmarked areas
If the Lighthouse Chapel parking lot is full, additional parking is available on the east side of Reasonover Road, directly opposite the gymnasium and playground. Please do not park elsewhere on the property.
Prayer Ribbons & Offerings
At the center of the Labyrinth stands a tree that serves as a communal focal point for intention and prayer.
Guests are invited to create a prayer ribbon, writing a prayer, holiday wish, intention, gratitude, or something they are ready to release. These ribbons may be tied to the center tree as an offering — both personal and collective.
A kiosk near the labyrinth entrance will provide prayer ribbons and markers, along with a yellow donation box for those who wish to contribute.
At the close of the winter season, the tree and all prayer ribbons will be burned in ceremony at the Spring Equinox, honoring what has been offered and symbolically releasing it as the light returns.
A Gift to the Community
The Labyrinth of Light is a donation-based offering, created by volunteers and board members of The Brigade of Light.
A yellow donation box will be available at the kiosk near the prayer ribbons. All donations collected through the end of the year will be donated to Sharing House, along with the Brigade of Light’s Sunday service tithe for the month. If you feel called, you may donate HERE.
Donations are appreciated but never required.
All are welcome, exactly as they are.
